Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm located in Paarl, is a family friendly farm where there are loads of kids' activities and fun things to do. Form Croc pond tours to snake exhibits, crocodile cage diving and bass fishing. Le Bonheur is also a great birthday party venue.

When we are not under lock-down.Le Bonheur croc farm operates 7 days a week, all year, except on 25 December. Hours of operation: 9 am till 5 pm daily.

Live streamed reptile shows

1. To school groups. We have already contacted all schools on our list that booked for March, April, May, June and beyond – we are offering the live streamed option at a 50% discount – only R 21 per leaner! Schools can contact to prearrange a time slot that will suit them.
2. To family groups who are looking for a thrilling and educational reptile encounter from the safety of their homes – at the regular price of R 298 per family. Subscribers will receive a 50% discount voucher on a guided croc pond tour on Le Bonheur after lock-down. Family live streamed encounters are offered Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

These live streamed events are custom made per group, and allows for live interaction

3. We also have 2 more options that will allow patrons to support our efforts to keep our animals cared for and our animal carers paid during non operational times: by pre-purchasing a reptile encounter of their choice which they can redeem after lock-down…as a special token of our thanks, these pre-purhcased voucher holders will get to witness a reptile feeding show. Prices for 2020 are as per attached sheet.

4. Lastly, we will make available live show packages – these subscribers will be able to plug into our live streamed reptile updates at regular weekly intervals on an ongoing basis and witness a behind the scene look at the special moments our animal carers witness whilst caring for our reptiles. With our crocodile tours our expert guide will show you around a captive-bred bask of more than 200 crocs, ranging from hatchlings to adults. You’ll walk on ramp ways spanning four large dams, all the while learning more about Africa’s largest reptile. You might even get a chance to view these fascinating predators in their underwater environment from our viewing cabin. With 11 daily crocodile tours, no bookings are required. Between 15 Dec & 8 Feb we feed the crocs at 11h15, and 14h15, weather and other factors permitting.

View a selection of local snakes and snakes from around the world in a fun and informative exhibit. 7 Days – 9 to 5

On Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays (at 12h10) our experienced snake handler puts on an interactive snake show where you’ll learn to appreciate these oft-misunderstood creatures. A touch opportunity with an ambassador snake is available under supervision of our well trained guide.

Crocodile Cage Diving

Take things to the next level with our crocodile cage diving experience by sharing a pond with half a dozen adult Nile crocs. Facilitated by African Croc Dive, crocodile cage diving is a thrilling close encounter that includes a safety briefing and all diving equipment. It takes place in a sturdy and spacious steel cage that’s surrounded by water on all sides. You’ll spend around 20 minutes in the crocs’ watery habitat and will get to see them both feeding and resting. The crocodile cage diving experience is both underwater and at surface level.  Booking is recommended but not essential. 15 September – April, six daily dives, ages nine and up.

• Every year around Easter our croc eggs hatch, producing cute lizard-sized baby Nile crocodiles.

Because we don’t actively breed them, the few odd eggs that we take the trouble to hatch and the resulting babies are really special to us.

We feature them in the briefing room from where we launch the croc pond tours, our signature reptile encounter.

Over the Easter holidays we will celebrate the hatching of our baby crocs by offering:

Easter egg hunt adventures - On 19, 20, 21 and 22 April at 10.30 am, kids can sign up for an  Easter egg hunt at R 75.

Catch and Release Bass Fishing and Cycling

Le Bonheur offers catch-and release-fishing from a dam stocked with tilapia and black bass. No fishing permit needed.

Cycle track suitable for ages 5 to 11

Anyone who’d like to fish or cycle should report at reception

(gift shop inside the tourist centre) to pay the rod / cycle fee and sign the rules.

To fish before 9 am, please contact manager Alzette Mocke on 083 415 0201. You can also phone to arrange the use of float tubes.

There is a visitor centre with bathrooms, kids’ play areas and a licensed restaurant (please do not bring your own food and alcohol onto the premises).

Picnic baskets are available from the restaurant (free fishing rights included with the picnic basket). Waterside braai facilities can be rented at R 60 per person, and for an extra R 10 per person we can supply crockery and cutlery.

Our facilities include a restaurant featuring a wood-fired pizza oven, gift shop, ample play area for children, and a waterfront garden where catch and release bass fishing may be practiced (fishing fees attached). OPEN DAILY 8.30 – 4.30

Bring and braai on the waterside

Our waterside braai offers casual seating for intimate family gatherings and larger groups of up to 30 people. Larger groups can also be accommodated. Fishing benefits can be purchased at group rates from reception (catch-and-release bass fishing).

We are open from 9 till 5 every day. If you’d like to stay longer this can be pre-arranged

(at a fee) – strictly at our discretion and on a case-by-case basis.

COST

R 60 per person – you bring your own, tables, plates, cutlery, glasses.

R 70 per person – we provide seating, shade, plates, cutlery, serviettes, glasses.

A R 35 corkage fee per bottle / R 18 corkage fee per consuming adult applies (if you bring your own alcohol).
