Nothing signals the arrival of summer quite like The Galileo Open Air Cinema, Cape Town’s first and finest outdoor movie experience.

The Galileo Open Air Cinema – proudly sponsored by Santam is back for its 11th season, bringing movie magic to some of the Mother City’s most enchanting locations. The unique summer activity offers the perfect setting for an incredible family bonding date night under a canopy of stars.

Apart from The Galileo’s regular screenings of rom-coms and musicals, The Galileo offers an array of beloved family-friendly films throughout the summer, from golden classics like The Goonies to modern-day hit animations like Encanto. The entertainment doesn’t stop there - vibey music, interactive games and an on-site mini-market serving up delicious food and snacks add to the unique bucket-list experience. Relax on the luscious lawn with a glass of wine while the little ones run wild or enjoy a giant game of Jenga for a little inter-family competition. Once tummies are full and fun has been had by all, snuggle up for a beautiful sunset and the much-anticipated movie.

Doors to the magical movie experience open at 6pm on weekdays, 5pm on Saturdays, and the movie starts after sunset. Arrive early, find your spot on the luscious lawns and enjoy an evening of artisanal food, drinks, games, lively music and an overall great vibe.

Your weekly summer staple

This season, Galileo guests will be thrilled to hear that weekly shows will be screened at the beloved ‘Kirstenbosch Garden’ and on select Fridays hosted at Century City’s ‘Central Park’. Perfectly primed for weekend Winelands adventures, the rotating wine estate venues remain firmly in place for Saturday screenings, showcasing the beautiful backdrops of Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Paarl and Franschhoek.
