Kam’Bati is a child-friendly camping and river resort situated in the Overberg area, Swellendam. As they are only just over 2 hours’ drive from Cape Town International Airport and George Airport on the Garden Route side- it is the ideal destination for your next family getaway. Kam’Bati (Kambati) owner, Jaco Badenhorst, is a dad of two youngsters too- so upon your visit, you will experience that Jaco and his family have put thorough planning into providing you with a truly family-friendly resort. The roads to the resort are accessible with regular vehicles and you have a variety of activities and accommodation options to choose from.

Kids love camping and to add to the fun of getting out and experiencing nature with your family, Kam’Bati River Resort also offers exciting child-friendly adventures. Older children can hire a canoe and explore the river with mom and dad, or engage in a game of putt-putt. The landscaped outdoor pool area has slides of different heights and speed- with the largest of the three, offering a 6 meter drop. An exhilarating experience for young and old. Kids can entertain themselves on the jungle gyms while mommy catches some sun (note that the pools are not enclosed). Dads can bond with their little ones while fishing as the river boasts a large number of freshwater fish including the carp, bass, eel, springer and barber. Mountain biking families can explore the landscape and all can settle in with some quality time around a camp fire.

Kam’Bati offers camping sites, cabins and luxury camping or glamping accommodation options.

Camping Facilities at Kam’Bati:

The campsite hosts grassed sites nestled under giant trees on the lush river banks with convenient and modern ablution blocks. Camp sites are all equipped with power points and the three ablution blocks offer gas powered warm, showers. Rates are from R165 per adult per night and R85 per child per night.

Self-catering cabins:

The self-catering cabins are ideal for those who want to be in nature but prefer the comfort of a bed and private bathrooms. Each unit has beds with bedding provided and a fully equipped kitchen. Rates are from R800 per cabin per night for 2 people.

Africamps Luxury Camping:

If you are all for experiencing nature and night sounds but prefer an air-conditioned, luxury tent with a private braai and bathroom- you are no longer camping, but glamping. Everybody loves glamping! These luxury tents offer bedding for 5 with a canvas “wall” separation between the two rooms. Here you can enjoy privacy and your own luxurious kitchen and patio from R790 per night.

What’s happening for parents?

Parents can, of course, participate in the abovementioned activities. If you would like to catch up on the latest tennis or rugby you can do so at Bati’s Pub. Bati’s pub is open on weekends and is for the use of resort guests only. Bati’s is situated above the A camping block - no children under 18 are allowed in the Bar area without adult supervision. They sell ice, wood, cold drinks and chips at the bar.
