Midnight confusion South Africa: This is when the lockdown officially kicks off
For a moment there I thought I was the only one asking what exactly "midnight" means? When exactly does the coronavirus lockdown officially kick off? Fortunately, it was asked all over social media after President Cyril Ramaphosa's words: "...midnight on Thursday" or "midnight on Thursday, 26 March until midnight on Thursday, 16 April".
Though we are thankful for a warning time, a few days to prepare, time is precious and one day can make a big difference.
This is when lockdown starts for South Africans:
Fortunately Presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko cleared up the confusion by telling NEWS24
"The lockdown will begin at 23:59 on Thursday evening. Therefore, day one of the lockdown will be Friday"
So we may have a few more hours to prepare.
Good luck to all. We will keep you posted with home entertainment and self-care ideas. So be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages.
ps. Have you seen anything on taking care of animals during this time?
