Families in Cape Town are in for a treat this November as two South African icons, Freshlyground and Zip Zap Circus, join forces for an unforgettable live production, Take Me Home. This one-of-a-kind show blends world-class acrobatics with the infectious rhythms of Freshlyground in a heartfelt celebration of connection, courage, and community.
About Take Me Home
Taking place at the Artscape Opera House from 14 to 16 November 2025, Take Me Home showcases the best of South African artistry. Expect jaw-dropping aerial performances, daring acrobatics, and the unmistakable energy of Freshlyground’s six-member ensemble. With their signature fusion of Afro-pop and world music, the band brings new life to the circus stage, reimagining beloved sounds through rhythm, movement, and storytelling.
This 80-minute production (plus a 30-minute interval) is a family-friendly experience, though it’s best suited for audiences aged four and up.
Please note: children under three will not be admitted, and booster seats are not provided.
The Heart Behind Zip Zap
Founded in 1992 by Brent van Rensburg and Laurence Estève, Zip Zap Circus began as a dream to unite people through performance. From humble beginnings, a trapeze bar in a tree and a box of costumes, it has grown into a world-renowned social circus that uses art to bridge divides and empower young South Africans. Every Zip Zap show is filled with heart, hope, and a sense of belonging that audiences can feel from the very first moment.
