Chocolate Sushi
Families who cook together, stay together. Try out Maryke Josling’s quick chocolate sushi recipe with the kids, to warm up your winter.
Ingredients:
150g toasted coconut
150g condensed milk
150g good quality chocolate (melted)
bamboo mat for rolling (bamboo placemat will do if you don’t have a sushi mat)
Filling:
6 marshmallows, halved, or about 40 mini marshmallows
6 strawberries, halved if they’re big
6-8 Turkish Delight or nougat pieces
Method:
Mix the first 3 ingredients together into a soft mixture.
Wrap cling wrap around the bamboo mat, or put mat inside a smooth plastic bag.
Press the chocolate mixture down on the mat, covering only half of the mat, starting at the side closest to you.
Put the filling ingredients in a horizontal line in the middle. You want to see big, colourful chunks of filling once your sushi has been cut, so keep that in mind.
Roll up the sushi with the help of the bamboo mat, away from you and onto the open half of the mat.
Chill and set in the fridge for about an hour, then slice into 8 – 10 wheels with a serrated (bread) knife that’s been dipped in a jug filled with very hot water. It will look like a California roll.
Top with whipped cream and garnish with berries.
