3 Easy party food + snack ideas for kids

Planning a party for your child can be an expensive and time-consuming project to undertake, especially if you plan to provide the food yourself. I have been looking, searching and experimenting with some fun party ideas. I have come up with a few easy options that might help you with your party planning.

I was going to include a food idea that uses jelly I mean what could be easier. After my third attempt at failing hopelessly, I decided to avoid using any jelly idea this time round. If you, on the other hand, would like to try a recipe there are plenty of ideas available on the internet, unless it’s just plain jelly in a bowl.

Chocolate Spoon kids party snack

This is simple, easy and you can’t go wrong with chocolate.

You will need:

  • Chocolate to melt
  • Plastic spoons
  • Extra sweets like smarties or jelly tots

Place the chocolate in a double boiler so that it can melt slowly. Once melted, pour into each of your spoons slowly as not to spill it over the sides. Next, add your jelly tots or other sweets on top and place into the refrigerator to harden.

No-Bake Marshmallow Oreo cookie recipe

Very simple idea, you will need

  • 30ml of margarine,
  • Packet of Oreo’s
  • Marshmallows

The amount will depend on how many you would like to make, but 5 Cups of marshmallows and about 400 grams of Oreo’s should get you about nine large size cookies out.

Melt the margarine and marshmallows in the microwave for about 1 to 2 minutes until it’s puffy, careful that it doesn’t go too long or it might run out and over your container. The Oreo’s can be placed into a food processor or blender to make them crumbly.

Take the marshmallows out of the microwave and mix the Oreo’s into the marshmallow. Place this mixture onto an 8x8inch lined dish and let set. Cut into squares and finished. You can add some rice crispies into the Oreo mixture to add a bit of extra crunch or sprinkle some jelly tots on top before the mixture sets to add some colour.

Roll-ups make the ideal kids finger food

In this recipe, you can use tortillas or pancakes. I tried hot dog rolls, yes and it worked! I took the hot dog rolls cut them in half and flattened each half with a rolling pin. Then I buttered the rolls and added peanut butter, of course, you can add anything you like to the roll. Take one side of the flattened piece and roll it. You can then cut this piece in half, for easy eating purposes I added a pretzel stick into the roll.

These were very easy and quick ideas and you can even get the kids involved to help you. Kids and adult finger food is a great option when planning a party, sometimes all you need is a cookie cutter to create simple ideas (watermelon stars) be creative and have fun.
