Johannesburg: This August, Cartoon Network is preparing a visual fest in celebration of Women’s Month. On Friday, 9 August, the #1 kids channel on the continent will have girl power on full display and unpack its tribute to iconic leading ladies with an on-air stunt entitled “All the CN Ladies”.
Tune in from 08:20 CAT and watch as the cool, courageous and powerful girls from UniKitty!, Teen Titans Go!, Regular Show and Craig of the Creek take over the universe, including Toya Delazy at the forefront with a brand-new The Powerpuff Girls Bliss episode where Bliss brings a powerful new tech product to Town. Adding to this powerful Women’s Day punch, take six classic female DC superheroes and have them navigate the perils of high school, as well as fighting crime, and you’ve got the super-buzzworthy new series, DC Super Hero Girls, four-episode special which will empower girls to shine with confidence and courage!
From Saturday, 24 August, Bliss reunites with her sisters in all-new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls. Tune-in on weekends at 18:10 CAT and follow the Power of Four as they contend with a new superhero’s arrival in Townsville. Will Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup and Bliss be able to save the day?
What’s more, the channel has put together a series of six locally Powerpuff Girls inspired tutorials to entertain young girls across the continent. The PPG Tutorials, which are an extension of the PPG awards, are the first locally produced online video content to be available exclusively on Cartoon Network Africa. As of August, two tutorials will be launched every month across its online and on-air platforms, starting with the Powerslime and Eaaasy Earrings tutorials.
