In an effort to reduce the centre’s single-use plastic footprint, Capegate has embarked on an #AntiPlasticCapegate campaign
Did you know that a plastic bag is used on average for 15 minutes but lasts around 450 years or more, harming the world’s oceans and marine life?
In an effort to reduce the centre’s single-use plastic footprint, Capegate has embarked on an #AntiPlasticCapegate campaign that urges shoppers to reduce their personal plastic waste through various tips and tricks. Capegate has an on-site recycling supplier, Don’t Waste, that recycles all waste generated by the centre on a daily basis. For the month of July 2018, just under 1,500kgs of plastic was recycled and discarded of.
The centre not only recycles plastic but other waste too, which includes paper, cardboard, wet waste and glass. Pop into Capegate Shopping Centre’s information desk, located in the Edgars court, to purchase your Capegate shopper bag for only R10.
Supporting #AntiPlasticCapegate stores have plaques up – keep an eye out for them when shopping.
