Fun Run above Paarl in aid of children with autism

Taalmonument hosts event filled with fun, pleasant picnic and some sweat.

The fun 5km Word Race, starting at 18:40, is aimed at the whole family – even prams are welcome! The entry fee is R25 and participants enter with an original, fun Afrikaans word instead of a number. The 10km Evening Run, presented in accordance with the rules of Athletics South Africa and Boland Athletics, starts at 18:30; it follows an exciting and challenging route on tar and dirt roads. The entry fee is R50 and temporary numbers (for those who are not members of an athletics club) are available for R30. In both cases, walkers are also welcome, so there is no excuse not to feel healthy, happy and generous.

How to enter

There are three ways you can enter:

Online before 5 December at www.entrytime.com.
You can visit the Taal Monument and register, you can do this every day from 08:00- 17:00
You can register on the day of the race itself, make sure you do this between 17:00 and 18:15

Anybody else coming along, who are fans can enter for free. Make an evening of it and bring along your own picnic, you can also order one from the Volksmond at 021 863 2800. For those who wish to just get themselves a little refreshment, the coffee shop will be offering drinks and pizza.

Boland School for Autism, a registered non-profit organisation, was founded in 2010 and houses tens of learners from as far as Tulbagh, Stellenbosch, Saron and Wellington. The school’s team consists of teachers, assistants, occupational and speech therapists, a biokineticist, an educational psychologist and a school manager who firmly believe that every child has the right to education. Parents cannot always afford all these services; therefore, the monument offers this opportunity to help raise money. More on the school at www.bolandautism.org.za.
