Celebrate African Penguin Awareness Day at our 15th annual Penguin Festival in collaboration with SANParks (Table Mountain National Park).

This special day is dedicated to raising worldwide awareness about the plight of the endangered African penguin, the only penguin endemic to the African continent.

Certain to appeal to everyone from kids and foodies to birders and conservationists, the event kicks off on Seaforth Beach with a release of African penguins – rehabilitated and ready to return to the wild. Witnessing the release of penguins back to the wild is heart-warming and an exclusive opportunity for festival guests. What’s even more rewarding is to know that your support at the festival will contribute to our continued work to rehabilitate and release seabirds.

The annual Penguin Festival has become a favourite event for Capetonians and local and international tourists visiting the iconic Boulders Beach penguin colony. After the penguin release, we’ll make our way to the Simon’s Town Navy Sports Fields, situated right next to Seaforth Beach.

General admission is free, but we appreciate donations towards our efforts to save the endangered African penguin. Entry into the Kids' Zone is R50 and parking will be available at the Seaforth Beach parking area.

All proceeds go to SANCCOB’s year-round African penguin conservation work.
