Children’s Home to host Christmas Market Festival in Moorreesburg!
Huis van Heerde Child and Youth Care Centre will be hosting a Christmas Market Festival at the Moorreesburg Showgrounds from Friday 30th November until Sunday 2nd December 2018. Entrance to the festival is free.
The Christmas Market Festival will feature a variety of activities besides a large number of arts, crafts, bakery and gift stalls. Other activities will include children and youth activities, barbeque (braai), free music performances by a large variety of artists, beer garden where craft beer is served, a restaurant where you can enjoy light meals, delicious bakery and refreshments, and many more! On Saturday evening a Carols by Candlelight will be presented accompanied by a live band and on Sunday morning an interdenominational church service and praise and worship event will be held.
Ms Karen van Bosch, Manager at Huis van Heerde CYCC, said that “this event is the first of its kind to be presented in Moorreesburg as far as we know. We had very positive response and support from the local and neighbouring communities, which is very encouraging. The event is a fundraising initiative of Huis van Heerde CYCC as we need to raise additional funds to supplement the balance of the 68% subsidy we receive from the State. We are currently experiencing a shortfall of R 117 000.00 per month (more than R1,4 million per year) which needs to be fundraised from the community”. We had a very challenging year so far”. Van Bosch further said that “the event is also an outreach from the children’s home to the local community to build relationships. The Christmas Market Festival also supports local individuals, entrepreneurs and small businesses to sell their products to earn an extra income. We are also very thankful to the ”Swartlandskou, Moorreesburg” for sponsoring the venue.”
Fans of handcraft are sure to find something special at the arts and crafts exhibitions, where regional and local artists put their latest creations on sale. This market is the ideal place for finding unique gifts for friends and loved ones. There is still space available for artists to display their artwork.
The highlight of the Christmas Market Festival will probably be the Carols by Candlelight which will be held on Saturday evening 1st December 2018 at the Moorreesburg Showgrounds with live musicians to accompany the carollers. Candles and songbooks will be sold in aid of Huis van Heerde Child and Youth Care Centre.
The Christmas Market Festival will run from the 30th November to the 2nd of December 2018. Opening times on Friday and Saturday are from 09:00 to 20:00 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 15:00.
