LADLES OF LOVE TO ATTEMPT MANDELA DAY WORLD RECORD (Cape Town) Special Events

This Mandela Day, 18 July 2022, Ladles of Love, is setting out to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest mosaic created entirely out of food cans. Taking place simultaneously in two cities – with a gigantic Madiba face being created in Cape Town at the CTICC and a massive South African flag being created in Johannesburg’s Nelson Mandela Square – the public is invited to be part of this globally significant charity initiative.

Every food can collected for the mosaic will be donated to communities in need. Ladles of Love is calling on willing South Africans and companies to volunteer or contribute – and be a part of making history. The initiative already has the support of Coronation Fund Managers and big-hearted members of the public.
The event will be held in two cities, to provide multiple ways for the people of South African to volunteer their 67 minutes for Mandela Day on Monday 18 July 2022 (Cape Town is 17 & 18 July 2022).

GET INVOLVED AND BECOME A PART OF RECORD-BREAKING HISTORY:
Great news for volunteers wanting to give 67 minutes of their time for Mandela Day – Ladles of Love have opened up of a variety of activities including:
- World Record Attempt food-can: Help place and pack primary coloured food-cans in the giant mosaics.
- Knitting Station: Knit 15cm x 15cm squares to be made into scarves and blankets.
- Vegetable chopping Station: Chop up 1 to 2 tons of butternuts, carrots and potatoes to be sent out to community soup kitchens.
- Sandwich-making Station: Spread jam and peanut butter on bread to make up sandwiches for distribution to ECDs.(Early Childhood Development Programmes).

If you would like to be a part of this world record attempt and contribute to food security for thousands of people in need, you can donate 67 minutes of your time at one of the venues for a fee of R150, which will go towards buying of bulk nutritious food.
