Cape Town, 15 March 2016 — Creative, constructive play meets the dramatic at the V&A; Waterfront these Easter school holidays, creating an engaging atmosphere for holidaying school children with lots of energy.

Creative recycling with See-Saw-Do

Parents are invited to bring their little ones to the V&A; Waterfront Amphitheatre for some high-energy, creative, educational fun at the first of two See-Saw-Do workshops scheduled for the holiday period. Developed around the idea of ‘open facilitation’, See-Saw-Do focuses on stimulating creativity and problem-solving skills in young minds, this year using the theme of ‘recycling’ to instil a positive, environmental appreciation message in young children’s minds.

The first of two See-Saw-Do workshops, entitled ‘Interactive Play’ will be held from Monday, 21 to Wednesday, 23 March from 10am to 4pm at Quays Square (located between Hildebrand and African Trading Port). With no store-bought toys available at the site, children will be given recyclable materials such as cardboard and paper by the See-Saw-Do team, and encouraged to creatively build their own toys and use these to engage and play with others.

Monday, 28 to Wednesday, 30 March will see the second See-Saw-Do workshop being held at Quays Square, this time encouraging ‘Imaginative Play’ for children. By building and playing in a cardboard city, children’s imaginations can run wild as they construct and play in their very own magic kingdom. The three-day workshop will end off with a treasure hunt within the magic kingdom, bringing a new aspect to exploring their handiwork.

Bringing Shakespeare to the Waterfront

Monday, 21 to Thursday, 24 March sees the spectre of Shakespeare descend on the V&A; Waterfront, with snippet performance parades each day at the V&A; Amphitheatre from various schools participating in this year’s Shakespeare School Festival South Africa.

Building up to International Shakespeare Day, celebrated each year on William Shakespeare’s birthday, Waterfront visitors will be treated to a parade performance from Monday, 21 to Wednesday, 23 March from 4 to 6pm. Parade performances will begin at the Watershed and weave their way to their end-point at the Amphitheatre.

Marking 400 years since Shakespeare’s death in 1616, this year’s festival is a poignant commemoration.

The Art of Chocolate: Lindt comes to Victoria Wharf shopping centre

Victoria Wharf shopping centre will play host to Master Chocolatiers Lindt this Easter Season, with indulgent chocolate demonstrations taking place from Tuesday, 22 to Easter Sunday, 27 March in the Centre Court (area in front of H&M;) in twice-daily demonstration sessions. Running from 11am to 12pm, and again from 2.30 to 3.30pm, visitors can follow in the Master Chocolatier’s creating decadent, Easter-inspired desserts, leaving the demonstration with a taster and recipe card in hand.

Chocolate-mad little ones will love the smooth, melting Lindor truffles samples freely available to visitors, who will also be able to purchase exclusive “Lindor Pick & Mix” chocolate bags from the pop-up station. Visitors to the station will stand a chance to win exciting daily prizes.
