Review: Holiday Ice Slides Canal Walk
A must do event this holiday season is Canal Walk’s Holiday Ice Slides – inspired by Disney.☃️ Each summer holiday Canal Walk offers a fun family activity to keep the children entertained. As ice slide fans, my family and I popped in to see what it was all about.
🎟️Tickets are booked online for a 45min timeslot. They sell for R100 (all access “Full Rider”), R80 for a mini rider (junior slide & snow play access) and R35 for a non-rider (i.e accompanying parents/ guardians and under 2's).
The children did not need any motivation to go on and explore all four slides. The double lane slide was their first stop. They absolutely loved the fact that it could be done together, side-by-side.
💪I secretly appreciate that the children had to work a little by climbing up the rather steep tract, pulling their tube along and that this effort was then rewarded with the thrill of adventure!
They quickly progressed to the next slide, which turned out to be their favourite as it had a good balance of height, twists, turns, speed and adventure. “Again again agaaain, mommy!” Hubby on the other hand marked the high speed double-lane slide as his favourite.
After about 30minutes of full on fun, my daughter wondered off to the snow zone. Though this area ideally caters for younger adventurers she loved digging into the ice cold “snow” and building a little snowman.
💡Quick tips:
Book online
Arrive about 15mins early.
Sessions last 45 minutes and start every hour on the hour. Last session starts at 8pm.
👗What to wear:
Shoes must be worn by all riders.
In terms of clothing, you can wear what you feel like, but my daughter did mention she got a few grass burns from the tube on the fastest (side by side) slide, right behind the knee fold- so she recommends wearing long pants (tights).
