Another great way of getting out and about with the kids is with a bicycle as you can cover greater distances than on foot and both the parent and the child enjoys the trip. Me and my wife both like cycling and it has been difficult to get out with two kids at home. We have tried various bicycle seats but we have particularly liked the FEVA Star Bicycle Seat for Children for various reasons.
We particularly like mountain biking and have found the more traditional child carriers that gets fixed on the back of the bicycle to be a bit cumbersome when cycling on rocky terrain as the children takes quite a lot of the bounce on their bodies. Keeping your balance with so much weight on the back wheel was quite difficult so we tried the FEVA Star Bicycle Seat.
With the FEVA Star Bicycle Seat the unit gets attached between the cyclist and the handlebars which means that the weight is all positioned on the front wheel. There are quite a few benefits to this position of cycling.
The weight of the child is between your arms and in front of you so you have a lot more control of the bicycle. Secondly the child is positioned in front of the cyclist so they get a first-hand view of the road in front of them resulting in a more enjoyable ride for the kid. And thirdly the child is positioned close to your mouth meaning that you can have a conversation without having to turn your head all the time.
Just a few of the other benefits of this product is that it is made of a strong foam rubber so it is very lightweight and easy to assemble. It can be easily be removed when you want to go cycling on your own with the assembly probably taking between 5-10 minutes. It is also compact for taking along on a holiday trip. The unit comes in a box with assembly instructions as well as some videos on the Internet explaining the setup.
We have had two of these seats for both me and my wife and have enjoyed numerous trips along the beach and also into the mountains. With the FEVA Star bicycle seat we have managed to take our kids to mountain huts that is a bit more secluded as we could cover bigger distances. It is a great way to spend family time together with the kids still enjoying some fresh air and quality time with the parents.
