DIY Valentine’s Ideas for Families
When you have to be on duty all the time, like most parents, it's easy to forget about special occasions, like Valentine's day. Here are 5 tips to help you make this Valentine's day special, even if you have a hectic schedule.
Idea 1:
Have your normal day, and then spend the last 2 hours (between 5 and 7) letting the kids run around, jump on the trampoline, and walk the dog... Make sure they are tired, really tired.
Follow your normal bath-time routine, and have them in bed by 8pm
THEN
Pour some wine
Light up some candles
and enjoy a cheese platter with some good company
Idea 2:
Follow the steps in idea 1, basically have the kids in bed by 8pm
Open the wine but do not pour it just yet.
Mommy and daddy each gets a five minute time out.
They each spend the time in a separate room writing an affirmation for each other. Dig into the kid’s crayons if you are feeling creative.
Return to the romantic scene, and share your affirmation.
Idea 3:
You don’t have to go to a spa to get treated this Valentine’s day
Let the kids share the love.
Get some baby oil and let them demonstrate on your feet.
This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy...
Then repeat on mommy’s feet.
Idea 4:
Family activity: Teach each other about love.
For example Love is...
Love is patient
Love honors others
Love is a big hug from mommy
Or I feel loved when...
Daddy reads me stories
Emma gives me butterfly kisses
